John Deere North American Parts Distribution Center (NAPDC) in Milan, Illinois, is not only looking for opportunities to improve the facility's recycling program, but also for ways to support customers' recycling efforts.

The NAPDC team developed a project that supports customer recycling efforts by replacing foam packaging materials with a media that is easy to recycle and improves the safety, quality, productivity, and consistency of the application.

The project reduced packaging foam use 85% by replacing foam with 100% recyclable paper material constructed of 65% recycled content from paper mills certified by the Sustainable Forest Initiative and Forest Stewardship Council.

Positive feedback on the packaging change was received from multiple customers, which is the achievement the team is most proud of.
