John Deere Introduces New, Updated AMS Products for 2012 Season

Section Control, seven other products to be rolled out now through early next year

LENEXA, Kansas (August 25, 2011) – John Deere announces eight new or updated Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products, which will be rolled out from now through early 2012. These innovative products cover a wide variety of precision farming technologies for crop producers and ag service providers.

The products planned for introduction this year include John Deere Section Control, which is now available; GreenStar™ Rate Controller Dry for use with dry box spinner spreaders; Active Implement Guidance; and Satellite Module. AMS products planned to be released in early 2012 include Mobile Weather, Remote Display Access, Implement Detection and JDLink Harvest Module.

"Section Control, along with the many other new AMS products coming out for 2012, will provide producers with the latest in precision farming technology and help them get the most from every input, every pass across the field and every acre they farm," says Holli Brokaw, AMS product manager for John Deere. "The variety of new AMS products means there's something that will help every producer be more efficient, more accurate and more productive with each field operation."

John Deere Section Control, previously called Swath Control Pro, is currently available for use with GreenStar 3 2630 Displays. It delivers a rapid return on investment for customers, especially as the cost of seed, fertilizer and crop protection products continues to climb. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, Section Control allows operators to automatically turn on and off sections or rows of sprayers, planters, and other equipment on the go. For example, Section Control can turn sprayer boom sections on or off based on GPS data to reduce overlaps.

Different versions of Section Control are available for sprayers/spreaders, seeder/planters and nutrient applicators. Each model is available for all John Deere implements supporting Section Control functionality, as well specified non-John Deere implements, and Section Control functionality is ISOBUS compatible with other models of equipment.

"Swath Control Pro is a very popular system for customers using GreenStar 2 1800 and 2600 Displays and will continue to be available for use with those displays," says Brokaw. "Customers who use new Section Control will find even greater performance benefits, plus the ability to use it with other ISOBUS compliant equipment."
