The 7R Series Tractors come with a wide array of new customer-driven features.
LENEXA, Kansas – (June 22, 2011) – With a focus on increased power, versatility, capacity and improved operator comfort, John Deere introduces the 7R Series Tractors for the 2011-2012 season. These completely new row-crop tractor models have many of the performance features found in the larger 8R Series, making them even more productive in the field.
The five new 7R models available this fall include:
- 7200R – 200 engine horsepower; PowerTech™ PSX 6.8L Engine
- 7215R – 215 engine horsepower; PowerTech PSX 6.8L Engine
- 7230R – 230 engine horsepower; PowerTech PVX 9.0L Engine
- 7260R – 260 engine horsepower; PowerTech PVX 9.0L Engine
- 7280R – 280 engine horsepower; PowerTech PVX 9.0L Engine
The 7R Series Tractors come with a wide array of new customer-driven features including the new IVT and Command Quad™ transmissions, options for larger tires, compact chassis, and greater engine horsepower ratings. These features give the 7R Tractors the versatility to handle the tillage, planting, haying, loader work and many other tough chores on the farm.
According to Jarrod McGinnis, John Deere division marketing manager for 7 family tractors, these new tractors represents the next generation of power in an easy-to-operate, performance-driven row-crop tractor from John Deere.
"The 7R Series Tractors are completely new from the ground up," McGinnis says. "They are designed for the producer who needs a more versatile tractor that has more horsepower, more fuel capacity, and greater hitch-lift capacity in order to handle larger implements and be more productive in the field. At the same time, we've integrated a new Interim Tier 4 EGR PowerTech engine, a fully automatic Infinitely Variable Transmission and other cutting edge technologies into these tractors to deliver improved fuel efficiency."
The 7R Tractors have 30 percent more fuel capacity and 23 percent greater hitch-lift capacity compared to their large-frame 7030 series predecessors. In addition, this new series has an optional integrated front hitch and PTO so producers can easily operate front-driven equipment such as triple-mounted mower-conditioners, snow blowers and a wide range of other attachments. For rear-driven equipment, a new 3-speed economy PTO with power-assist PTO shifting is an available fuel-saving option.
Inside the cab, John Deere has made major changes to enhance the operating experience. Along with a roomier CommandView™ II Cab that gives the operator improved visibility to the drawbar, the 7R Series Tractors have an optional touch-screen video capable CommandCenter™ Display.
The 7R models also can be equipped with ActiveCommand Steering™ (ACS), which utilizes breakthroughs in steering technology to deliver the ultimate in precise steering control, especially at transport speeds. Another available option is an adaptive hydraulic cab suspension system that reads multiple tractor inputs to automatically adjust the suspension for an improved ride.
"Along with being a very versatile tractor, the 7R is one of the most comfortable and easy-to-handle tractors in its class," says McGinnis. "Fingertip controls and improved steering and suspension features make it easier on the operators to spend longer days in the field, even under rough conditions."
Other new features include the availability of six SCVs for greater hydraulic versatility and the addition of right-hand steps to make it more convenient to access the right side of the tractor.
"One thing customers will not see is an external exhaust treatment filter," notes McGinnis. "We designed the new 7R Tractors with the exhaust treatment filter under the hood and streamlined the overall look of these tractors, beyond just increasing their power and performance. Many of these features are what customers have asked for in a 200 to 280 horsepower row-crop tractor and we've built them into the new 7R models."
