WATERLOO, Iowa (March 24, 2011) – John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is pleased to announce at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011 that it will make a new JDLink™ telematics system available with electronically controlled John Deere Interim Tier 4/Stage III B off-highway diesel engines installed in OEM equipment.
The new telematics system features the latest generation of JDLink equipment monitoring and the new Service ADVISOR™ Remote program. JDLink and Service ADVISOR Remote enable customers to remotely monitor conditions and status on their John Deere engine while allowing technicians to perform engine diagnostics and some repairs.
JDLink connects equipment owners, fleet managers and dealers to equipment in the field by automatically collecting, transmitting and managing information about where, when and how equipment is being used, as well as critical machine health data.

Deere plans to offer JDLink on electronically controlled John Deere engines for OEM equipment in two versions: JDLink Select and JDLink Ultimate. JDLink Select is the foundation of the telematics system and offers information on location, engine hours, geofencing and maintenance alerts. JDLink Ultimate offers the same information collected by JDLink Select, and adds information on oil temperature, idle time, utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance intervals and a variety of other engine settings. The data collected by JDLink is communicated to a central John Deere server and made available to registered users via the JDLink dashboard or through SMS text messaging or e-mail. The availability of real-time information allows for necessary adjustments in operator behavior before any engine diagnostic issue occurs.
JDLink also enables Service ADVISOR Remote, which provides technicians with remote access to an engine's diagnostic data, to help minimize service costs and customer downtime. With Service ADVISOR Remote, technicians are able to isolate, identify and diagnose problems before they even head out on a field service call, which ensures they have everything needed to get the equipment back up and running. In some instances, a remote connection may eliminate the need for a technician to visit a machine entirely, reducing the cost and time associated with a field service call. For example, diagnostic trouble codes can be reset and software updates can be uploaded remotely to enhance engine performance.
JDLink uses cellular technology to transmit the collected data. When used in areas of inadequate cellular service, JDLink has the capability to log and store a 1,000 hours of data and will reconnect and transmit the data when coverage is available. An optional satellite module will be available later in 2011, enabling JDLink to remain connected in areas without cellular coverage.
