Four Ways to Expand Your Business Reach

You've been in the business for a while now. You've learned the ins and outs and ups and downs of the industry and have established a strong team of employees. You know it's time to expand, but where do you begin? By following these four easy tips, increasing your business's reach might be easier than you think.

1. Network

If you're looking to expand your business, begin with the people you know. Ask friends and other industry contacts if they've heard of any potential upcoming jobs and projects. Your suppliers/providers may have passed an advertisement on the highway this morning on their way to meet with you.

2. Put yourself out there

Don't be afraid to advertise and promote yourself. Hand out business cards whenever you make a new contact. You never know who might have an "in" with the industry or even need a small project done themselves.

3. Sponsor local events

Getting involved within the community is the key to getting your business noticed. Consider sponsoring local sports teams, school functions, or community fundraisers and events. The individuals who attend these functions will make note of your sponsorship, and may want to work with you as a direct result.

4. Brand yourself

A company's image is only as powerful as its logo. Look at your design and ask if it represents your company. Also review your business card, letter head, and other branding items. Is there a way to be more creative? If you're not an expert in this field, consider hiring a creative or graphic design firm to help brand your company more effectively. Once you have a powerful brand image, you'll be more recognizable around the community and beyond.
