John Deere Power Systems to Showcase Diversified Range of Powertrain Solutions at SIMA 2022

SARAN, France (6 October 2022) — As agricultural producers continue to face increasing demands for improved emission performance, fuel economy, and productivity, John Deere Power Systems (JDPS) is making strategic investments in electrification, renewable fuels, and other future-forward engine and drivetrain technologies to support its customers in meeting their productivity and sustainability goals.

JDPS will provide a look into the future of powertrain technology at SIMA 2022 from 6-10 November. Attendees who visit the JDPS booth (Hall 5B, booth A022) will learn more about the company's Next Generation Engine lineup as well as the Kreisel Battery Pack 63 (KBP63), a modular battery solution that utilizes Kreisel Electric's patented immersion cooling technology for exceptional reliability, performance, and safety. The booth will also feature other John Deere prime power solutions, diesel-electric drivetrain, and battery advancements, as well as Connected Support — a remote monitoring and diagnostics solution for OEM equipment powered by John Deere.

Battery and Diesel-Electric Drivetrain

As JDPS works toward a future with low- and near-zero-carbon propulsion systems, the company is investing significant resources in advanced battery technologies for off-highway vehicles. Deere & Company has acquired majority ownership of Kreisel Electric, Inc. ("Kreisel"), a battery technology provider based in Austria that develops high-durability electric battery modules and packs as well as a charging infrastructure platform called CHIMERO.

Renewable Fuels

John Deere is committed to bringing the most advanced, affordable, and effective renewable fuel solutions to end users. With world-class engineering expertise, John Deere is simplifying the integration of renewable fuels with combustion engines to deliver more value and productivity. Within the variety of available renewable fuels, John Deere considers biodiesel blends, renewable diesel, and ethanol to be leading diesel alternatives that can integrate into heavy duty equipment.

JDPS has made significant progress in testing engine compatibility with renewable diesel fuel like hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO), which is a biofuel made by the hydrocracking or hydrogenation of vegetable oil. Renewable diesel offers a sustainable replacement comparable to diesel fuel.

Next Generation Engines

Designed to deliver new levels of reliability, durability, flexibility, and serviceability for a wide array of heavy-duty applications, next generation engines leverage the best technologies of John Deere in new ways to meet both market and customer demands. The next generation engine lineup includes the JD4, JD14, and JD18.

Leveraging Telematic Connections

JDPS has plans to expand its telematic technology offerings to John Deere-powered OEM equipment through Connected Support. Connected Support helps increase efficiency, profitability, and productivity in the field by providing customer support via John Deere remote monitoring and diagnostic services.

JDPS will be located in Hall 5B at booth A022. To learn more about John Deere's powertrain offerings ahead of the show, click here.
