John Deere Stinger™ grader edges deliver consistent, reliable performance in a wide range of applications.
Stingers eliminate washboarding and potholes, with fewer passes than standard grader blades, as well as a decrease in the number of passes necessary to properly maintain a road surface. These tungsten-carbide-tipped cutting tools are stronger than steel and penetrate hard-packed, gravel and frozen surfaces easily. Stinger replaceable, rotating, self-sharpening tools wear uniformly and maintain an even cutting height by enabling them to be rotated from position to position.
Stingers come in over a dozen tool styles and fit universally into three blade strengths for a variety of applications:
- Standard duty – ideal for light-use grading in average conditions
- Heavy duty – useful in most grading environments
- Severe duty – best for working in extreme elements

Manufactured with thru-hardened 14B30 boron steel, which is significantly harder than the standard carbon edge. Dura-Max™ edges are made via a heat-treatment process in which the blades are heated to extreme temperatures and then quenched to reach maximum hardness levels.
John Deere warrants Dura-Max cutting edges against breakage. If a Dura-Max cutting edge should break during use before it wears out, a new edge will be furnished free of charge.
Half-arrow edges and segments are built to perform using High Spec Alloy X14 steel for excellent wear characteristics and superior impact resistance. Half-arrow edges are used to replace the standard double-bevel design commonly used on loaders when no tooth and adaptor options are installed.
- More material in high-wear areas
- Increased bucket capacity
- Enhanced bucket penetration and material flow into bucket
- Maximum depth countersinking maximizes wear before bolt head failure
- Half-arrow blades and base-edge covers completely protect the base edge from abrasion
Other Cutting Edge Options
Carbide insert snow plow blades feature inserts of tungsten carbide. The wear and abrasion resistant carbide inserts wear longer than any other type of blade in applications requiring long runs and high speeds, such as plowing interstate highways and airports. They can outlast standard steel edges 20 to 1.
John Deere provides a variety of edges that fit most models of excavator and backhoe buckets. Edges for excavators and backhoes are designed specifically for the demands of excavator and backhoe work. They are available in various lengths and thicknesses.
John Deere Dozer Edges are engineered for maximum wear and easy installation. Dozer edges are high carbon with a bolt-on double bevel flat design.
When you need a long wearing edge for a loader bucket, turn to John Deere. Edges are available as bolt-on or weld-on systems. Bolt on edge systems let you quickly change edges in the field. They also extend the life of the bucket base edge and corners. Bolt on edges can be reversed for extended wear life.
John Deere offers an extensive line of all makes motor grader edges. There are two different choices to match your grading requirements: Dura-Max through-hardened edges and Carbon Steel Edges.
John Deere offers Scraper Edges in both carbon-steel and Dura-Max through-hardened steel. Scraper blade selection depends on the material being moved. Dura-Max through hardened edges provide resistance to breakage. Carbon Edges are an economical alternative in low-impact situations.
John Deere Universal Edges offer alternate cutting edge repair options for all makes of equipment. They are available in various thicknesses, widths, and lengths, so they allow you to rebuild a bucket at minimal expense.
